“Hey Stephanie, we just wanted to call and say thank you so much for coming and interviewing with us. We had a really tough decision to make and you were in the final two but we decided to go with a girl who graduated from our school.”
“That’s totally understandable. No one can sell your school quite like your alumni. Thank you for giving me consideration.”
I had recently interviewed with a small, private, liberal arts college. Right up my alley. Or so I thought, but it was your typical “thanks but no thanks” conversation that had just happened. I would not be joining their team; I would be staying right where I was.
Later, I’d discover that it was because my Director would leave and I would take her job. I would also have a blonde boy walk into my office wanting information on coming to school with us, but would leave taking my heart with him and it would change everything.
I know now that God was simply saying “no” to my plans for leaving. He was also giving a resounding “yes” to dreams that I couldn’t see just yet.
